The Art of Return is a one-of-a-kind space for and by formerly incarcerated people.
The Art of Return is a safe and welcoming place for those who have experienced incarceration or detention to share their creativity. The show is divided into two halves. In the first half, formerly incarcerated people share their art: poetry, speech, music, dance - anything performed on a stage. In the second half, I sit down with one formerly incarcerated person for an in-depth interview, tracing his/her life from childhood through reentry until today. We also provide space for craftspeople and artists from the community to sell their work.
